In January meeting of the series: "With John Paul to the future" took part prof. Wanda Półtawska. The professor was an assistant professor at the Medical Academy in Krakow, a lecturer at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow. She organized the Institute of Theology of the Family at the Polish Academy of Theology in Krakow, and was a lecturer at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family at the Lateran University in Rome. Prof. Wanda Półtawska put a lot of work in the preparation, together with the Curia of Krakow materials for Pope Paul VI used later for his encyclical Humanae Vitae.
Humanae Vitae (from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humane_Vitae) is an encyclical written by Pope Paul VI and issued on 25 July 1968. Subtitled On the Regulation of Birth, it re-affirms the traditional teaching of the Catholic Church regarding married love, responsible parenthood, and the continued rejection of most forms of birth control.
Very important is the second part , in which the Pope repeated the teaching of VaticanCouncil II on love of spouses and responsible procreation, the indissolubility of marriage and the unitive and procreative importance of the conjugal act .
The document states strongly that "every conjugal act must be open to the transmission of life " (No. 11), but allows for natural regulation of conception (No. 16 ), while prohibited is any activity of a contraceptive and early abortifacient (so any artificial methods of prevention pregnancy - 14).
A very important role in the establishment of the encyclical played then Archbishop of Krakow, Karol Wojtyla, who moved earlier this subject in his book Love and Responsibility. Wojtyla, at the request of Pope Paul VI, established in Krakow a special committee, which was to prepare materials for the encyclical. A member of the committee priest Andrzej Bardecki later recalled: Together we took part in a series of meetings and prepared materials that Cardinal Wojtyla gave to Paul V
I . When I compared then encyclical " Humanae Vitae " with our materials, I found that at least 60 percent of the materials from Krakow came to the encyclical .
The encyclical triggered a wave of criticism, which still is not silent . This has prompted many episcopals to a broader and deeper diffusion of ideas Humanae Vitae among the faithful .
To the meeting with prof. Półtawska came numerous guests . Prof. Pół
